NewsLeash uses automated tools, including AI, in parts of our workflow. Readers are entitled to know how, so this page explains it.
Where AI is used
- Research and organization. AI tools may assist with research, organizing source material and preparing drafts. Some drafts are prepared with the help of an AI language model working from source material such as court records, official statements and licensed news feeds.
- Images. NewsLeash also uses AI to generate article images based on information from the article. Image graphics are illustrations, not documentation of a scene, unless a photo is credited to its source.
Human review
Every article is reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication. NewsLeash staff fact-check our stories against their sources. If we find a problem with an article, we either correct it or remove it.
What AI is not
AI-generated material is not treated as an independent factual source. Factual claims must be supported by identifiable sources, such as court records, law enforcement statements, official releases or credited reporting by other news organizations.
Accuracy and corrections
AI tools can make mistakes, including misattributing a statement or overstating what a document says. We check names, charges, dates and quotes against the source. If you find an error, tell us at contact@newsleash.com. See our Corrections Policy.
