Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information NewsLeash (newsleash.com, “we”, “us”) collects when you visit the site and how it is used.

Information we collect

  • Log and device data. Like most websites, our servers record your IP address, browser type, pages visited and the time of your visit. We use this to run, secure and improve the site.
  • Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and comment you submit, plus your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Comments may be checked by an automated spam-filtering service.
  • Newsletter. If you subscribe to a newsletter, we store the email address you provide so we can send it.
  • Contacting us. If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can respond.

Cookies and local storage

The site uses cookies for basic functions. For example, if you choose a location in the weather widget, we save it in a cookie in your browser for up to one year so the widget remembers it. If you use your device’s location, we store it rounded to roughly a kilometre. If you are signed in to a NewsLeash staff account, the location is also saved to that account. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work as expected if you do.

Third-party services

Some features load content or data from other providers. For example, the weather widget sends the location you enter (or, if you allow it, your device location) to OpenWeather to fetch the forecast. Embedded media and social links may set their own cookies. Those providers have their own privacy policies, and we do not control them.

How we use information

We use information to operate and secure the site, moderate comments, send newsletters you asked for, respond to messages, and understand how the site is used. We do not sell your personal information.

Retention and your choices

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above. You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or unsubscribe from any newsletter at any time, by emailing contact@newsleash.com.

Children

NewsLeash is a general news site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Questions? Email contact@newsleash.com.
