Arizona Man Arrested on Child Sex-Crime Charges, Police Seek Other Possible Victims

SURPRISE, Ariz. — A 37-year-old Surprise-area man is being held in the Maricopa County Jail on four charges involving sexual offenses against a minor, and police are asking the public for help identifying any other potential victims.

Corey Pattakos was arrested Sept. 29 by the Surprise Police Department following what investigators described as an extensive investigation involving search warrants and a review of physical and digital evidence. He was booked on sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual conduct with a minor, aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation, and luring of a minor for sexual exploitation. Bond was set at $500,000 at his initial court appearance.

Police have not released details of the underlying allegations, how the investigation began, or information about the minor involved. AZFamily reported that court documents tied to the arrest have been sealed. FOX 10 Phoenix, citing the department’s own announcement, reported the case involves at least one identified minor, and police say they believe there may be additional victims.

“[We are] committed to thoroughly investigating allegations involving crimes against children while protecting the privacy and dignity of victims,” the department said in a statement reported by AZFamily.

12News reported that Pattakos has family ties to Dr. Paul Nassif, a plastic surgeon known for the reality series “Botched” — the station said Pattakos had appeared in a photo on Nassif’s wife’s Instagram account, which was taken down by Wednesday evening. 12News said it contacted the family for comment and had not received a response by the time of its report. Nothing in the reporting ties any relative to the allegations or suggests wrongdoing beyond Pattakos himself.

Anyone who believes they or someone they know may have been victimized, or who has information about a potential victim, is asked to contact the Surprise Police Department at 623-222-TIPS (8477) or crimetips@surpriseaz.gov, or their local law enforcement agency.

No further court dates have been made public. Pattakos has been accused of crimes but has not been convicted. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
